We have two historic pianos in the Boone home. One is believed to be one of Boone’s practice pianos, the other is a player piano from the era. The piano we believe belonged to Boone went through a $5,000 restoration after we received donations from one of our generous supporters. The Husdon player piano is also a gorgeous piece from the late 19th century. Blind Boone adapted new compositions by listening to a player piano, and eventually became the first African American to publish original piano rolls. At the Boone Home we are fortunate to have several of his piano rolls, and you will be thrilled to hear him play once again during your visit or special event.
